This weekend's scheduled performance of "The Odd Couple" at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Pasco County is postponed because of the death of one of its cast members, according to the school's Web site.
17-year-old Alessandra Augello died Monday night when her car was struck head-on less than a mile from school.
Augello was heading westbound on Hudson Avenue, west of Hays Road, after play practice when another vehicle crossed the center line about 7:15 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said. Alyssa Dyer, 19, was behind the wheel of the eastbound car and also died in the crash. She was pregnant with her first child.
"They both pretty much died immediately," said patrol Sgt. Steve Gaskins.
Both teens were wearing their seat belts, but the combined100 mph force of the impact was too great, he said.
Records show Augello, who went by "Ally," lived with her family on Dan River Drive in Hernando County, a few blocks north of the Pasco County line.
News of Augello's death struck hard at McLaughlin High School, where she was an "enthusiastic and energetic" senior, Principal Sarah Regan said.
"It's really tough here," Regan said Tuesday.
Services for Dyer are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday at Prevatt Funeral Home.
