This weekend's scheduled performance of "The Odd Couple" at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School in Pasco County is postponed because of the death of one of its cast members, according to the school's Web site.
Alessandra Augello died Monday night when her car was struck head-on less than a mile from the school.
Augello, 17, was heading westbound on Hudson Avenue, west of Hays Road, after play practice about 7:15 p.m. when another vehicle crossed the center line, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Alyssa Dyer, 19, was behind the wheel of the eastbound car and also died in the crash. She was pregnant with her first child.
Both teens were wearing seat belts, but the combined 100 mph force of the impact was too great, patrol Sgt. Steve Gaskins said.
News of Augello's death struck hard at McLaughlin High School, where she was an "enthusiastic and energetic" senior, Principal Sarah Regan said.
"It's really tough here," Regan said earlier this week.
Services for Dyer are scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Prevatt Funeral Home.
