ST. PETERSBURG - Someone forgot to tell the Largo High football team the playoffs start next week. Using some ferocious hitting on defense and special teams, the Packers pounded their way Friday night to a 31-0 victory against Northeast.
Largo created turnovers with hits that often left Northeast players prone and disoriented.
"That's nothing new," Largo running back/defensive back Marcel Durham said of the teeth-rattling shots delivered by the Packers. "That's every day in practice."
Two of those hits led to fourth-quarter touchdowns. Sedarian Mansfield's sack caused a fumble recovered by Brandon Drain. That set up a 2-yard run by freshman quarterback Jamar Riley for a 24-0 lead.
