THE DIFFERENCE: After taking the lead when Allen Sampson returned the opening kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, Plant (9-1) moved the ball with ease throughout the game, while the defense picked off three passes and shut out the Knights (2-8).
GAME NOTES: Sampson, a junior, also caught a 17-yard touchdown from Phillip Ely in the third quarter. ... In the first half, Ely found receiver Orson Charles for two touchdowns, the first for 31 yards and the second from 8 yards out, further extending Plant's lead. ... Linebacker Beau Hume returned an interception 25 yards for a score in the second quarter and also added a sack. ... Marco Cobb capped the scoring when he ran for a 4-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. ... Plant hosts Lakewood next week in a first-round playoff game.
