THE DIFFERENCE: On a night when the Bulldogs retired the number of their greatest baseball player - 1984 graduate and current Yankees pitching coach Dave Eiland (No. 14) - the result read a lot like a baseball line score. Ridgewood (4-6) kicker Josh Gray accounted for all of the points with a 28-yard field goal, set up by the game's only error, a Zephyrhills (4-6) fumble returned 31 yards into Bulldogs territory by Bob Peck.
GAME NOTES: The Rams were playing without star RB Sterling Ross, who was benched for the final game of his senior season for undisclosed reasons by Coach Chris Taylor. ... Four Ridgewood runners combined for 58 yards on 29 carries, while Zephyrhills did not fare much better (24 carries, 68 yards). ... Bulldogs QB Tyler Guy was 16-for-25 passing for 173 yards, but he missed two field goals as the kicker. ... Another Bulldogs drive stalled when Guy was sacked by Anthony Muniz and Austin Jackson, taking Zephyrhills out of field-goal range and forcing a punt.
STAT OF THE GAME: Zephyrhills coach Tom Fisher finished the season with fewer than five wins for the first time since 1999.
QUOTE OF THE GAME: "We've been getting close the last couple of weeks, we just haven't been able to finish it off in the fourth quarter. We started 10 sophomores tonight, and we've got to challenge the other kids to get better for next year." - Taylor
