HILLSBOROUGH - Two people were killed in a fiery car crash that happened shortly after midnight today on State Road 60, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A woman was driving a 2000 Acura 2.4L westbound on S.R. 60, just east of Mud Lake Road, when she lost control of the car and went into the center grass median about 12:02 a.m., troopers said. She then overcorrected, causing the car to spin across the westbound lanes and strike a utility pole.
Andrew Santilli, a Valrico resident, was a passenger in the back seat of the car. He was ejected from the car on impact, troopers said. He is listed in critical condition at Tampa General Hospital.
The car then erupted into flames, killing passenger Christopher Richards, 20, of Brandon, and the driver who hasn't been identified yet because she was so badly burned, the FHP said.
Both the driver and Richards were not wearing seat belts, troopers said.
