Published: November 16, 2008

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Colt McCoy burned the Big 12's worst pass defense for 255 yards and two record-breaking touchdowns as No. 4 Texas stayed in the thick of the national championship hunt with a 35-7 victory Saturday over Kansas.

The win gave Texas (10-1, 6-1 Big 12) double-digit wins for the eighth year in a row. More importantly to the Longhorns' long-range hopes, the 28-point margin was similar to blowouts Kansas (6-5, 3-4) suffered earlier at the hands of Big 12 South rivals Texas Tech and Oklahoma.

McCoy hit Quan Cosby with a 9-yard touchdown pass and connected with Brandon Collins over the middle for a 36-yard TD completion that made it 35-7 in the third. That raised his total for the year to 31 touchdown passes, breaking his own school record.

NO. 6 SOUTHERN CAL 45,

STANFORD 23

STANFORD, Calif. - C.J. Gable made sure there wouldn't be a second Stanford stunner.

Gable returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and ran for another score to help sixth-ranked Southern California overcome an early deficit and avenge last year's shocking loss to the Cardinal with a 22-point victory.

Mark Sanchez added two touchdown passes and Stafon Johnson ran for two scores for the Trojans (9-1, 7-1 Pac-10), who had their season ruined a year ago when they lost as a 41-point home favorite, 24-23 to the Cardinal (5-6, 4-4).

NO. 8 UTAH 63, SDSU 14

SAN DIEGO - Brian Johnson kept No. 8 Utah on a BCS-busting course by throwing a career-high five touchdown passes in a win over San Diego State.

Utah (11-0, 7-0) clinched at least a share of the Mountain West Conference title. The Utes will try to finish the regular season undefeated when they host No. 16 BYU in their big rivalry game on Saturday.

SDSU (1-10, 0-7) lost 10 games in a season for the first time and the Utes never had to punt.

NO. 9 BOISE ST. 45, IDAHO 10

MOSCOW, Idaho - Jeremy Avery rushed for a career-high 156 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 9 Boise State (10-0, 6-0 WAC) keep alive its hopes of returning to a BCS bowl with a win over Idaho (2-9, 1-6).

Boise State won its 10th straight over the Vandals, and also clinched at least a share of its sixth WAC title in the past seven seasons.

NO. 11 OKLAHOMA STATE 30,

COLORADO 17

BOULDER, Colo. - Zac Robinson broke Colorado's hearts again, leading No. 11 Oklahoma State past the Buffaloes, four years after spurning a scholarship offer from the Buffaloes.

Playing in his home state for the first time since high school, Robinson threw for 217 yards and a touchdown and ran for another.

The Cowboys (9-2, 5-2 Big 12) have a week off before their showdown with archrival Oklahoma.

NO. 12 MISSOURI 52,

IOWA STATE 20

AMES, Iowa - Chase Daniel threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns and No. 12 Missouri (9-2, 5-2 Big 12) clinched the Big 12 North and a spot in the conference title game by crushing Iowa State.

NO. 16 BYU 38, AIR FORCE 24

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. - Max Hall threw for 354 yards and two touchdowns and No. 16 BYU (10-1, 6-1 MWC) evaded Air Force (8-3, 5-2).

Harvey Unga added two touchdowns in a 74-second span in the third quarter, helping the Cougars set up a clash with No. 8 Utah next weekend for a share of the Mountain West Conference title.

NO. 23 OREGON STATE 34,

CALIFORNIA 21

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State edged closer to its first Rose Bowl appearance since 1965 with victory over California (6-4, 4-3 Pac-10).

Freshman Jacquizz Rodgers and his older brother James each ran for touchdowns for the Beavers (7-3, 6-1), who won their fifth straight.

HOUSTON 70,

NO.25 TULSA 30

HOUSTON - Case Keenum threw a career-high six touchdowns and ran for another score to help Houston stun No. 25 Tulsa.

NOTRE DAME 27, NAVY 21

BALTIMORE - Nothing comes easy for Charlie Weis and Notre Dame these days.

A year after the Fighting Irish had their record 43-game winning streak against Navy snapped, Notre Dame had to withstand a frenetic rally by the Midshipmen in the final minute and a half.

The Midshipmen (6-4) trailed 27-7 when Shun White broke loose for a 24-yard touchdown run that seemed as if it would provide little more than window dressing with 1:39 left. But Navy then recovered an onside kick, and drove quickly to make the score 27-21. Another onside kick recovery put Navy at their 41. But this time, Navy quarterback Ricky Dobbs couldn't get the ball downfield, and Notre Dame (6-4) could finally rest.
