When the decision was made to combine our food section, "Flavor," with our home-and-garden section, "At Home," we wondered how well the topics would blend. Especially after we decided to throw fashion and parenting into the mix with the rest of our regular features.
Well, it all goes together just fine.
Our first issue, we decorated for a Florida fall, and did a table setting out in the garden. Then food writer Jeff Houck took us through a kitchen renovation at a Hyde Park home. Last week, Cloe Cabrera offered tips on how to be a fashion plate while filling your Thanksgiving plate. And so on ...
This week I got another taste of how it all overlaps. I'm a gardener, not a cook, so when my Meyer lemon tree produced a bumper crop, I needed help - and fast - so the fruit wouldn't go to waste.
I used "The Dirt," the gardening column I share with Penny Carnathan, to ask readers for lemon recipes. And the cooks among you came through with some great ones. We're sharing a few of those recipes in today's "Dirt," , and you can find more on our blog at TBO.com, keyword: Dirt.
