A man who had threatened to kill himself Sunday night was shot by a St. Petersburg police officer, investigators said.
About 9 p.m. Sunday, an alarm at 6528 12th St. N. led police to a home, where officers found a woman who said her husband wanted to kill himself, police say.
About that time, Roberto Garcia Lara, the woman's husband, came outside and pointed a gun at officers, police said. St. Petersburg police Sgt, Karl Lounge fired several shots, striking Lara, who was taken to Bayfront Medical Center.
Lara, 46, died shortly before midnight, police said.
