A 20-year-old man wanted on warrants for violating probation struggled with deputies as he was arrested Monday night and was stunned a total of four times — twice with pepper spray and twice with a Taser, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies received a call from a bail bondsman informing them that Joshua Moore was at a local McDonald's restaurant and that he was possibly armed, authorities say.
According to a sheriff's office report, this is what happened about 9 p.m. at 604 67th Street Circle East, Bradenton:
Deputies found Moore, handcuffed him and put him in the back of a patrol car, where he began kicking at the rear window. Moore was taken out of the car and deputies told him to stop or he would be sprayed.
Moore began kicking at deputies and trying to pull away from them, authorities say. A deputy sprayed Moore and tried to put him back in the patrol car but Moore struggled to get away. Deputies then stunned Moore with a Taser.
Once back inside the patrol car, Moore kicked at the rear window again and popped it out of its frame. He continued to kick, even as he was hit a second time with pepper spray.
As he was again taken out of the patrol car, he continued to kick at the deputies and push them until he was stunned a second time in the stomach with a Taser.
Moore was taken to Manatee County Jail.
