TAMPA - Disney Cruise Lines this week will begin to add 3-D technology to theaters on its Disney Magic and Disney Wonder cruise ships sailing from Port Canaveral to show first-run Disney films in 3-D format.
This Disney Digital 3-D experience is being launched Friday on the Disney Wonder to coincide with the premiere of Walt Disney Pictures' newest animated feature, "Bolt."
Digital 3-D will be added to the Disney Magic on Dec 6.
In addition, Disney Cruise Lines will combine Disney Digital 3-D with lasers, streamers, fog and other in-theatre effects early next year.
The Disney initiatives are part of a cruise industry movement to enhance entertainment on cruise liners, including the Princess Cruises announcement last week of adding outdoor theaters to most of its ships.
