TAMPA - Traffic on North Dale Mabry Highway between Interstate 275 and Laurel Street will be rerouted between midnight and 5 a.m. the rest of this week.
The road will be closed northbound and southbound so that Tampa Electric Co. can remove transmission lines. The work is related to the future widening of I-275.
The work may take only two days, said John McShaffrey, spokesman for the Florida Department of Transportation, but the agency is planning for a five-day closure.
During the closure, no northbound traffic will be allowed to go under the interstate. The interstate exit ramps to northbound Dale Mabry will be closed. Traffic coming off southbound I-275 heading southbound on Dale Mabry will be clear to proceed.
Traffic will be detoured around the closed area using Cypress Street, Lois Avenue and Spruce Street. Detours for I-275 exit ramps will be Lois Avenue for northbound traffic and Himes Avenue for southbound traffic.
