TAMPA - The Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce is expected today to name its point man for attracting new businesses to the area.
The chamber's economic development arm, the Committee of 100, has been operating without a permanent leader since February, when former committee leader Myron Hughes left to become director of the University of Cincinnati alumni association.
The chamber has been searching for Hughes' replacement for months and hopes to name its selection by the end of today, said Joe House, the chamber's interim president.
The last several months have been difficult for the chamber. Aside from losing Hughes, it lost longtime chamber president and chief executive officer Kim Scheeler over the summer.
Scheeler left to run the chamber of commerce in Richmond, Va.
