Investigators from two cities are working together to identify a body found at an abandoned house in Lakeland.
Lakeland police said a neighbor discovered the body at 1810 Elliott St. Authorities have not said whether it is a man or a woman or how long the body was in the house. Police spokesman Jack Gillen said the death appears to be a homicide.
Detectives from the Tampa police department arrived at the house Tuesday shortly before midnight. Authorities spent several hours collecting evidence and officers remained on the scene early this morning.
The Lakeland police department said any new information on this case will now come from the Tampa police.
