CLEARWATER - The Southwest Florida Water Management District has asked local municipalities to make an extra effort to enforce water restrictions already in place.
Violators in many scenarios will receive a $100 citation.
Among the restrictions:
• Hand-watering or microirrigation for nonlawn landscaping is permitted only before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
• Water customers should postpone any lawn replacement, and decorative fountains and waterfalls should be operated only four hours a day.
• In addition, the number of days a homeowner can water new sod has been reduced to every other day.
