Tampa Water Rules Restrict Sod Installation

If you were thinking of resodding your yard, better forget about it for a few months.

The Tampa Water Department today announced it has further tightened water restrictions because of continued dry conditions.

Among the new restrictions:

• All turfgrass renovation, including turf replacement, not scheduled prior to Oct. 28, 2008, must be postponed until after June 30, 2009.

• The installation and establishment of turf associated with new construction, including roads and other public works projects, is still allowed.

• Irrigation by hand watering, microirrigation and other low-volume methods is prohibited between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Violations of the new restrictions will be enforced beginning Nov. 28. No first-time warnings will be given. Violations can result in fines of up to $450.
