TAMPA - Tampa Fire Rescue crews put out a house fire this morning at 1509 E. Fifth Ave. in Ybor City.
About 8:44 a.m., crews saw smoke coming from the single-story wood-frame home's attic and determined there was a smoldering fire. Crews had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
No one was injured.
Investigators later found an electrical short in the home, which is owned by Elliott Pyles. The short caused a wooden beam and insulation to smolder, leading to about $15,000 in damage.
