TAMPA - See the man on the flying trapeze for free Friday when you donate nonperishable food to Metropolitan Ministries.
The local pantry, which provides goods and services to poor and homeless families, is in need of food stuff, including cereal, stuffing, canned meat, vegetables and canned fruit. Metropolitan Ministries serves more than 150 families a day, according to a news release.
Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus is helping the nonprofit organization stock its shelves by providing a free ticket to the "Greatest Show on Earth" for 10 nonperishable donations. Food can be dropped off between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday at the St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. There is a limit of four tickets per family.
The circus comes to the Forum for eight performances Jan. 7 to 11. This year's edition features "Zing Zang Zoom," a series of illusions and stunts, including the disappearance of a four-ton elephant, a one-arm speed spin on a trapeze and human cannonballs. Box-office prices are $15 to $85.
