TAMPA - University of South Florida QB Matt Grothe, still wearing a protective boot after injuring his ankle in Saturday's loss to Rutgers, did not practice Tuesday and is unsure when he will return to practice.
However, Grothe said he'll definitely play Sunday night against Connecticut.
"I'll play on one leg if I have to," said Grothe, who leads the Big East in passing with 2,362 yards and 15 touchdowns.
USF coach Jim Leavitt said Grothe would remain in a boot for a few days.
NO CONTACT YET: USF passing game coordinator/WR coach Mike Canales said Tuesday he had not been contacted by Utah State about their head coaching vacancy.
"I have no comment, I have not been contacted by anyone at Utah State," said Canales, who is considered one of the leading candidates for the position.
INJURIES: USF LT Jacob Sims (ankle) did not work out with the other offensive linemen during the first 30 minutes of practice. However, CB Quenton Washington (back), WR Marcus Edwards (knee) and RBs Mike Ford (ankle) and Jamar Taylor (ankle) all participated in position drills.
