GAINESVILLE - Percy Harvin has always been one of the most versatile players in college football. Entering this season there was a chance he could have been lining up on defense as well.
"This summer he actually came to see me about it," said Coach Urban Meyer.
"We were having some issues at cornerback on the backend and after last year's performance I was willing to think about it. But that's so hard to do at college football. Especially with all the things we do with him on offense."
Luckily for the Gators, sophomore Joe Haden has improved tremendously and true freshman Janoris Jenkins has made a smooth transition to the college game, saving Harvin for his offensive exploits.
LAST HURRAH: It will be senior day for several of the Gators in Saturday's game against The Citadel.
That group of seniors represents one of the most successful classes ever to play at Florida and they will be making their last appearances at Florida Field.
"This is one of the best groups of people and players I've ever been around," Meyer said. "That senior class has been through a lot, they've been through transitions and the record speaks for itself. From the walk-ons and all the others are on course to graduate, sometimes that kind of goes by."
INJURY UPDATE: LB A.J. Jones, who sat out last week's contest against South Carolina, is expected to play Saturday. Jones has been battling a sprained PCL and was limited in practice this week.
OL Carl Johnson is also expected to be available. Jim Tartt, who Johnson has been starting in place of, is likely to start ahead the redshirt sophomore.
TEBOW HONORED: Quarterback Tim Tebow, whose humanitarian efforts have captivated college football fans nationwide, has been chosen for the Disney Spirit Award given annually to college football's most inspirational figure. Tebow will be presented with the award during The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards at Walt Disney World Resort on Dec. 11.
