After leaving the scene of a crash, Jerome Lawson refused to be arrested easily this afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
He refused to get in the back of a patrol car, and when he was placed inside he escaped twice, troopers say.
Then Lawson "repeatedly banged his head against the cased divider in the patrol car" and said he would hurt those involved in his arrest, according to a criminal arrest affidavit.
Lawson, 50, of Tampa, was charged with two counts of escaping from law enforcement and one count each of obstructing or opposing an officer, driving without a valid driver's license, leaving the scene of a crash and corruption by threat against a public servant.
He remained in Orient Road Jail today. His bail was set at $19,500.
