DADE CITY - Patsy Nathe, co-owner of R.J. Nathe and Sons logging company and Tall Timber Cattle and Grove, has been selected Florida's "Woman of the Year in Agriculture" for 2008.
The award, now in its 24th year, recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to Florida agriculture.
The award is sponsored by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and the Florida State Fair Authority.
Agriculture Commissioner Charles H. Bronson is scheduled to present the award to Nathe on Feb. 5 during the opening-day luncheon at the Florida State Fair in Tampa.
Nathe, a Pasco County native, has been involved in volunteer work and served on numerous boards over the years.
She is vice chairwoman of the Withlacoochee River Basin Board and serves on the board's education committee.
She also represents the Florida Forestry Association on the Agriculture Advisory Committee of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
In addition, Nathe is a member of the Southeastern Wood Producers Association and serves on the boards of the Florida Loggers Council, the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame Association and the Future Farmers of America Foundation.
