There's another new player in Tampa's natural-food grocer wars.
The Publix GreenWise Market in Hyde Park is another option for those seeking more choices when shopping for natural and organic produce and other groceries.
The 39,000-square-foot store offers a wider selection of such items than traditional Publix supermarkets. It also dedicates 4,500 square feet to prepared foods. Traditional fare with a twist includes rotisserie chickens that are all-natural. And, yes, that does mean a higher price tag.
GreenWise, at 2403 W. Azeele St., is similar to competitors such as Whole Foods. Both stores feature a variety of frozen gluten-free bakery items and vegetarian-fed beef as well as a large high-end and organic wine selection.
The focus differs somewhat from longtime independent health food stores that created and sustained the industry for decades and continue to serve a dedicated niche of consumers.
GreenWise also carries conventional groceries and has a bulk food section and a large area dedicated to vitamins, natural supplements, homeopathy and body care products. GreenWise's nutrition information and recipe kiosk is similar to ones at other vitamin shops and health food stores across the country.
