LAKELAND - A 57-year-old woman faces animal neglect charges after deputies say they found 90 puppies living in "deplorable" conditions.
Carolyn Bragg of 6330 Lunn Road was charged by Polk County sheriff's deputies during an investigation of a suspected puppy mill.
Deputies are still removing the puppies from Bragg's home, but said most are Pomeranians. They said some of the dogs are Yorkshire terriers and pugs.
Deputies say they found the puppies "in unacceptable living conditions" that they described as "deplorable.
The puppies are in fair condition but will be examined by a veterinarian on Sunday and Monday, deputies say.
Authorities say the investigation began when a person who bought a dog from Bragg didn't receive a required health certificate. The investigation is continuing.
