Tampa - A man and woman are accused of pulling a gun on an undercover officer during a drug buy, forcing a struggle for the weapon.
No one was injured in the incident about 11:25 p.m. Friday in the 13000 block of North 22nd Street, Tampa police said.
Police charged Derryn Lee Williams, 20, and Crystal Arlene Brown, 24, with felony armed robbery, felony conspiracy to deliver marijuana and felony attempted delivery of marijuana, among other charges, records show.
Both were being held without bail today at Orient Road Jail.
According to affidavits, Williams and Brown met with the officer after promising to sell him 4 pounds of marijuana for $4,000. They offered the officer a black backpack that they claimed contained the drugs.
After the officer flashed a roll of money, Brown handed Williams a .25-caliber handgun, police said. Williams pointed the gun at the officer and demanded all the cash.
"Gun!" the officer yelled, according to affidavits. As the officer struggled with Williams, Brown yelled for Williams to shoot.
Williams and Brown ran as other officers moved in to help but were caught nearby, the affidavits state.
The affidavits do not say whether there was marijuana in the backpack. However, officers found 11 rocks of crack cocaine in a cigar tube in Williams' pocket, the documents state.
Williams also is charged with felony aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony possession of crack cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.
