TAMPA - An 18-year-old man was arrested this morning, charged with stabbing his brother to death during an argument.
Deadreart Holmes was arguing with brother Jason Phifer in the bedroom the two shared with another brother at 12509 Sugar Pine Way about 4:45 a.m., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
When the disagreement turned physical, Holmes threatened to stab Phifer, an arrest report said.
Holms stabbed Phifer, 22, in the chest with a kitchen knife, according to the sheriff's office.
The argument started over a hat that Phifer had borrowed and left in someone's car, sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Carter said in a statement.
Holmes was booked into the Orient Road Jail on a charge of second-degree murder and is being held without bail.
