A 10-year-old playing with a lighter caused a fire that destroyed a mobile home tonight in the Bloomingdale area, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue officials said.
There were no reports of injuries to firefighters or the residents of the mobile home.
Fifteen firefighters and five units were called to the fire at 4108 Maywood Drive shortly after 8 p.m. The fire gutted the mobile home, authorities say.
The Tampa Bay chapter of the American Red Cross has been called to help the woman and the three children who lived in the home, authorities say.
The 10-year-old will be referred to the Hillsborough County Juvenile Fire Setter Program, a course designed for children who have played with fire or displayed fire-setting behaviors, officials say. The program educates children and families on fire prevention and safety.
