TAMPA - Tampa International Airport ranked first nationwide in overall quality for U.S. airports in the 2008 U.S. and International Airlines Survey by Zagat, the New York-based travel and dining guides publisher.
The survey released Monday tapped 9,950 respondents who flew an average of 16.3 times annually.
"It is something we are very proud of and it clearly shows that the extraordinary efforts of our staff and the tenants at TPA are recognized by the users of the system," airport director Louis Miller said.
Minneapolis-St. Paul International, Denver International, Charlotte Douglas (N.C.) International and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport ranked second through fifth, respectively.
The survey also ranked Continental Airlines and JetBlue Airways as the top large carriers and Southwest Airlines the best value for the money.
