TAMPA - Police have arrested the driver of a car they say was going east in the westbound lanes of Tampa Bay Boulevard and crashed head-on into another vehicle, injuring four people.
James Darron Snead, 43, of 1311 U.S. 92, Lot 69, Auburndale, remained in the Orient Road Jail this morning. Bail was set at $8,000.
He was charged with four counts of driving under the influence with serious bodily injury, jail records show.
According to an arrest report, Snead was behind the wheel of a 2000 Ford, heading east in the westbound lanes about 11 p.m. Sunday when his car struck another vehicle near Lois Avenue.
Police said they could smell alcohol on his breath and made note of his glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.
Two breath tests were administered. Snead registered 0.196 blood-alcohol level on one and 0.2 on the other. In Florida, a driver is considered impaired with a blood-alcohol level of 0.08 or higher.
