LARGO - Two teenagers were arrested Sunday after one of them used an air rifle to kill a squirrel, according to Largo police.
Thomas Morgan and Craig Mauro, both 19, were charged with felony animal cruelty and were being held at Pinellas County Jail, jail records state.
Both teens were seen shooting at squirrels from Morgan's home, at 2595 Oakwood Drive, shortly before 4 p.m., jail affidavits state. A Largo police officer arrived and saw Morgan kill one, the affidavits state.
Mauro, who lives in Clearwater, was seen using the air rifle, too, the affidavits state. He also was seen jumping a fence, armed with a metal pipe, looking for the squirrel Morgan had just killed, the affidavits state.
Mauro was charged with trespassing after entering the neighbor's property, and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after it was determined he was carrying a marijuana pipe, the affidavits state.
Morgan's bail was set at $10,000; Mauro's bail was set at $10,750, jail records say.
