IRA KAUFMAN'S POWER RANKINGS

1. Giants. Fifth in offense and fifth in defense makes them best overall.

2. Titans. Heading to Motown on Thursday in a nasty mood.

3. Jets. These guys will follow Favre anywhere.

4. Steelers. That 4-1 road mark will be tested in Foxborough.

5. Bucs. They may wobble a bit, but they don't fall

6. Cowboys. This team could have folded a month ago.

7. Colts. Same here.

8. Patriots. Nobody's hotter than Matt Cassel.

9. Ravens. Who wouldn't want Ed Reed?

10. Cardinals. Gained stature, even while losing to the Giants.

11. Falcons. Michael Turner's worth every nickel.

12. Panthers. Two of their three losses have been lopsided.

13. Redskins. They can run the football and play defense.

14. Vikings. Expect some big collisions Sunday night against Chicago.

15. Bears. A victory at the Metrodome would leave them in good shape.

16. Saints. Tampa Bay has been waiting 11 weeks for a rematch.

17. Packers. Charles Woodson vs. Steve Smith is a heck of a matchup.

18. Bills. Can't play the Chiefs every week.

19. Dolphins. Don't count 'em out of the AFC wild-card chase.

20. Chargers. Move over Tom Petty - Norv Turner is joining the Heartbreakers Tour.

21. Broncos. Best of an awful division.

22. Texans. See what happens when your defense shows up?

23. Eagles. Big changes are in the air.

24. Jaguars. They've played terrible football at home.

25. Browns. Already messing with the kid.

26. 49ers. Memo from their travel director: Buffalo is lovely in late November.

27. Raiders. You know Al Davis was ecstatic to see Mike Shanahan squirm.

28. Seahawks. Winless outside the NFC West.

29. Bengals. Quick, somebody grab a big broom.

30. Chiefs. Was that Buffalo at Arrowhead Sunday ... or the '99 Rams?

31. Rams. Albert Pujols is a better hitter than anyone on this defense.

32. Lions. Rod Marinelli won't say the word, but K Jason Hanson will: embarrassed.
