Santa Claus took some time out of his busy pre-Christmas schedule and made a special appearance at a Tampa school Tuesday morning. Santa met up with local police and fire crews at 8:30 a.m. for an escort through Ybor City to DeSoto Elementary School, where he read holiday stories to the children and handed out small gifts.
The school was selected for the visit by Sincerely Santa, an organization that has been providing children from economically challenged families with toys and clothing during the holidays for 20 years, said Diane Miller of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
