HOLIDAY - Members of Holiday Lake Estates Security Patrol take pride in their neighborhood, so they recently put up new Neighborhood Watch signs.
The old signs had become faded, Ed Mathey, secretary of the patrol, said. A few signs had some graffiti.
So residents collected donations to have 10 new signs put up in this neighborhood nestled off Alternate 19 and Anclote Boulevard, just north of the Pasco-Pinellas county line.
Each sign cost about $35, according to Mathey.
Members even rolled up their sleeves, got out their tool boxes and installed the new signs. Six signs have been put up, with four more on order.
The Holiday Lake Security Patrol is made up of volunteers who donate three hours a month on neighborhood crime watch, according to Mathey. The patrol has about 30 members.
More than two dozen of them serve as drivers who cruise the neighborhood in the security patrol car. They log about 400 miles a month on almost daily patrols, Mathey said.
