Quintet To Perform Holiday Sounds

Youth Ranch Sponsors Festival
Sertoma Youth Ranch will feature its annual Thanksgiving bluegrass festival Thursday through Sunday .

Featured performers will include Al Batten and Bluegrass Reunion; Beth Stevens and Edge; Bluegrass Brothers; Roger Bass and the Hillbillies; Bluegrass Parlor; Carolina Road; Gary Waldrep; Larry Gillis, Smokey Green; and Goldwing Express.

Show times are: 3:30 to 10 p.m. Thursday; noon to 11 p.m. Friday; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Ticket prices are $8 for Thursday; $25, Friday; $30, Saturday; and $12, Sunday. Weekend tickets are $45. Children ages 12 through 16 are $3 each day or $7 for a weekend ticket. Children younger than 12 are free with an adult ticket.

Weekend camping sites are available for an additional fee. All proceeds will go to benefit Sertoma Youth Ranch. A special Thanksgiving dinner will be held Thursday. Sertoma Youth Ranch will furnish turkey and and those attending should bring a dish or two to share for the potluck dinner. Sertoma Youth Ranch is seven miles west of Dade City and 1½ miles east of Interstate 75, off County Road 41 on 85 Myers Road.

Brass Quintet To Perform
Saint Leo University will host a Christmas concert featuring the Florida Orchestra Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Saint Leo Abbey Church of the Holy Cross on the university's campus.

Following the concert, students will lead a candlelight procession to the university's Christmas tree where a tree-lighting ceremony and caroling will take place. Refreshments will be served.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The Florida Orchestra Brass Quintet will perform traditional Christmas music. The quintet has been performing in the Tampa Bay area for 20 years. The members Robert Smith and Kenneth Brown on the trumpet; Brandon Beck, French horn; Dwight Decker, trombone; and William Mickelsen, tuba.
Saint Leo University is at 33701 State Road 52, four miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 285).

Golf Tourney Benefits Hospice

The Italian of Americans Heritage Club of Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club in San Antonio will hold a Benefit Golf Tournament to begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Pebble Creek Golf and Country Club located in Tampa to benefit Hernando-Pasco Hospice.

Registration is $40, which includes an 18-hole scramble followed by a spaghetti and meatball dinner at Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club. All levels of golfers are invited. There will be a hole-in-one contest with a $10,000.00 prize, as well as putting, closest to the pin and closest to the line contests for both men and women. There will be tee gifts and prizes.

The hospice is a not-for-profit agency that provides care, comfort and support to individuals and families affected by a life-limiting illness regardless of their ability to pay. The hospice serves Pasco, Hernando and Citrus county residents.

Prayer Breakfast To Be Tuesday

The second YMCA of the Suncoast Prayer Breakfast is planned for Tuesday.

State Sen. Mike Fasano, R-New Port Richey, and Sheriff Bob White will be the hosts. The speaker will be Dewey Mitchell, co-owner of Prudential Tropical Realty.

The event will take place 7:3 to -:15 a.m. at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave. The cost is $25 per person. Reservations are requested by Friday. For information, contact Deannie Hoyt at (727)375-9622.

Site Cleanup In The Works

After more than 15 years of meetings, debate and planning, the cleanup of the former Stauffer Chemical plant hazardous waste site could begin in the spring.

Removing potential toxic waste from the former phosphate ore processing plant overlooking the Anclote River could take two years to complete, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. From 1950 until 1981 the plant, on 130 acres north of the city on Anclote Boulevard, just south of Pasco County, manufactured elemental phosphorus used in agricultural pesticides.

COUNTYWIDE

Vegan Holiday Feast Planned

Pasco County vegetarians and vegans are inviting the public to a Vegan Thanksgiving Day Feast potluck dinner from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tampa, 11400 Morris Bridge Road.

All dishes will be alternative recipes without animal ingredients.

Requested donations are $5 per adult with covered dish to serve six or $15 without a dish. Children under 12 get in free.
