TAMPA - Zak Boggs scored a pair of goals Tuesday to lift the University of South Florida men's soccer team to a 2-1 victory against Harvard in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The victory enabled the Bulls (15-4-2) to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season. Last year, USF traveled to Connecticut and lost in the round of 16.
This year, the Bulls will host UNC-Greensboro on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Greensboro advanced after a 2-1 overtime road upset of No. 9-ranked Loyola.
"Each game, people have to step up," Boggs said. "I'm glad I could do it today."
It was the third time in the past four games that a USF player scored two goals.
The Bulls improved to 10-0-1 at the USF Soccer Stadium this season.
Boggs put USF ahead at the 4:08 mark of the first half with a header past Harvard keeper Austin Harms.
Harvard tied the match at the 23:44 mark on John Stamatis' goal, but Boggs scored off a deflection at the 63:30 mark to give USF a 2-1 lead.
