An Investigation Discovery Channel show premiering Dec. 1 documents a 2003 homicide in St. Petersburg and features interviews with five Pinellas County sheriff's detectives who helped crack the case.
The show "Solved" will air nationally at 9 p.m. on the cable channel and profiles the investigation into the death of 53-year-old Bernadette Myers.
Interviewed on the show are homicide detectives Sgts. Larry Nalven, Judy Vovan and Tom Klein and crime scene investigators Woody Miller and Craig Giovo, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Myers' body was found at her home, 3304 58th Ave., St. Petersburg, on March 4, 2003. A friend was checking up on her after Myers did not show up for work, authorities say. The friend saw what appeared to be blood spots on a window and called the sheriff's office.
Myers' suffered blunt force trauma to the head. She also had two large zip ties around her neck.
The investigation lasted five months. Detectives arrested Charles Edward Halmes in August 2003 after DNA evidence linked him to Myers' slaying. Detectives say Halmes was in a parking lot near Myers' home at about the same time she would have returned home from work on March 3, 2003.
Halmes pawned a ring, a watch and other items belonging to Myers after her death, detectives say.
Halmes was convicted of first-degree murder in 2005 and sentenced to life in prison.
