So you've stuffed yourself with turkey and trimmings and you're thinking about what to do with the rest of your long weekend. Don't just sit there slurping up cold mashed potatoes, check out one of these fine events:
Friday
If you're still hungry, check out the farmers market in downtown Tampa's Lykes Gaslight Square from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The park is bordered by Tampa, Madison and Franklin streets and Kennedy Boulevard.
In the evening, head to Hyde Park Village in Tampa for the Enchanted Tree Lighting Ceremony. Santa will be there to light the 30-foot tree, which is by the fountain in the middle of the village. (You can't miss it.) The fun goes from 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday
Bring your appetite and sit with Santa for a special buffet-style breakfast at the Museum of Science & Industry in Tampa. More holiday activities for the whole family will be held throughout the day. For information, call (813) 987-6000.
Keep the holiday spirit going with the West Tampa Chamber of Commerce's Holiday Festival at MacFarlane Park in Tampa. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., is open to the public.
If you want to learn to celebrate the holidays in eco-style, Brooker Creek Preserve is the place for you. The preserve's Environmental Education Center is holding an event from 1 to 2 p.m. to teach people about sustainable gifts, decorating and meal ideas. Preregistration is required. The center is at 3940 Keystone Road, Tarpon Springs. For information, call (727) 453-6800.
When darkness falls, look for a Symphony in Lights at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel. The light show is choreographed to the music of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and runs every hour on the hour, starting at 6.
Sunday
Now that you've digested all that homemade food, it's time to hunt for homemade gifts. Check out the Buckler's Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Florida State Fairgrounds.
This is your last chance to visit a winter wonderland of lavish proportions at the Festival of Trees Tampa Bay. The festival features children's crafts, live entertainment, and photos with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. The festivities begin at 10 a.m. at the Harborview Center in Clearwater.
