LUTZ - Hillsborough County deputies and fire rescue workers at first thought the worst this morning: two hot-air ballons collide in the skies over Lutz and crash into some trees.
Not so, sheriff's office spokesman J.D. Callaway said later in the morning.
The 8 a.m. call from a person on the ground said that two balloons had crashed into trees and power lines near U.S. 41 and Newberger Road, Callaway said.
Deputies and firefighters rushed to the scene but didn't find any disaster, Callaway said.
"It just appears that one balloon clipped some power lines and landed," he said. "There were no injuries, and it launched again."
