A big ... no, wait ... a HUGE trend this winter is the minimalist look.
When I first saw all the unadorned straight lines and conservative opaque colors coming down the runway, I couldn't help but think of a resurgence of Andy Warhol- and Edie Sedgwick-ish style. Everyone walking around (insert pretentious voice) very seriously with no real purpose.
But to my surprise and relief, this season's minimalist look lets the modern girl's hair down a bit ... with pure taste and class.
The less-is-more concept of the season is great for the girl on a budget because, well, we don't have to buy as much. To wear the look, don a simple must-have-this-season turtleneck sweater dress. Old Navy all but ran the credit card for you with this perfect and so affordable marshmallow white version, available at www.oldnavy.com for $34.50. Wear conservative colored tights with flat rider boots, one silver bangle bracelet and straight and simple silver earrings. Andy would be so proud.
