Three people died Saturday evening when a car swerved into their lane and collided with two motorcycles in Sumter County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Larry Fleet, 59, and Beverly Fleet, 54, both of Orange City, were killed. An unidentified man from Debary who was driving a second motorcycle also died. Family members of the third victim have not been notified, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The victims were in a group of three motorcycles heading east on Sumter County Road 476 near Sumter County Road 619 shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday.
A 1986 Mercury driven by Norman Billings, 76, of Bushnell was heading west on the two-lane road and crossed into the eastbound lanes, the highway patrol said.
Billings missed the first motorcycle but struck the Harley-Davidsons driven by Larry Fleet and the unidentified man, the accident report said.
Beverly Fleet and the unidentified man died at the accident scene and Larry Fleet died at Lakeland Regional Hospital, the highway patrol said.
Norman Billings and his passenger, Ruby Billings, 76, were taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital with minor injuries.
No charges have been filed but the accident remains under investigation.
None of the three victims was wearing a helmet, the highway patrol said.
