The Bucs Will Win If ...
They can get to Drew Brees. He has been sacked only
nine times this year, and as much as that sounds like a testament to the play of his offensive line, it's not. Brees seldom goes down, because he seldom waits more than a second or two to get rid of the ball. He is very hard to trap, but the
Bucs can do it if they eliminate his
escape routes and collapse the pocket around him. They might have to
blitz to do it, but if the
Bucs can sack Brees two or
three times in this game, they can win it.
The Saints Will Win If ...
They can run for 100 yards or more. The
Saints aren't a running team, but they do try to develop offensive balance. If they achieve that objective today and control the ball and the clock, they will beat the
Bucs because their ability to run the ball will set them up for play-action passes and big plays. The
Bucs usually make stopping the run their top objective. It's hard to do that against the Saints, but if they don't stop the run they will allow the
Saints to dictate the play. That's a losing formula.
