Fisherman Slips On Sardines, Falls Off Skyway Pier

ST. PETERSBURG - A 47-year-old man slipped on some sardines this morning while fishing from the Sunshine Skyway's south fishing pier and fell into Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg fire officials say.
Richard Allen Khoory of Mulberry was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard vessel stationed at Anna Marie Island, said Lt. Joel Granata of St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue. He was examined by Manatee County paramedics and was found not to have any injuries, Granata said.
Khoory slipped at about 7:34 a.m., Granata said.
Khoory told authorities the sardines were being used for bait, Granata said.
