FORT LAUDERDALE - Fort Lauderdale authorities say two JetBlue pilots attacked a cabdriver because they wouldn't pay for the ride.
Police say 40-year-old William Hart Smith and 38-year-old Brad Leopard were charged Monday with battery and petty theft. The attack happened on Aug. 12.
There was no phone number listed for a William H. Smith in Fort Lauderdale. A message was left with a Brad Leopard. It was not immediately known if they have an attorney.
Police say the pilots hailed the cab after leaving a strip club, giving conflicting directions to the cabdriver who eventually told them to get out. The pilots didn't pay the fare, so the driver chased them. Police say the pilots then kicked and punched him.
An airline spokesman would not release further information citing privacy concerns.
