TAMPA - A man cut his girlfriend's throat this morning after she tried to break off their relationship, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Richard Allen Wells, 41, of Tampa grabbed a knife and cut the throat of Candy Snellenberger, 42, of Tampa about 1:15 this morning, sheriff's spokeswoman Vida Morgan said.
The pair was arguing as Snellenberger was trying to end their two-month relationship, deputies said.
Emergency workers rushed Snellenberger from 9209 Patterson St. to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment. She is expected to recover, Morgan said.
Wells fled but was arrested by deputies in the area of North 40th and Chelsea streets, Morgan said.
Wells is charged with attempted first-degree murder.
