TAMPA - A new locally produced children's television show is looking for kids to be in the audience Saturday morning at Great Explorations, the Children's Museum in St. Petersburg.
Producer Chip Carter says there's room for about 75 children for the taping of "Rummi TV," a weekly Saturday morning show that airs on Verizon's Fios TV on channel 23 and on WTAM, Channel 30, a low-power television station in Tampa.
Taping begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.
The museum is at 1925 Fourth St. N., St. Petersburg.
The series features Rummi the Parrot, a costumed character created by puppeteer David Phillips for a nonprofit organization.
The goal, according to the producers, is to "teach children about conservation, eco-awareness, oceanic habitats, and storm preparedness, which is important to our Florida markets, through music, games, songs and hands-on interaction."
Rummi has three sidekicks, Hannah Banana, Capt. Dave and his dog Paddle.
