Four men were arrested Wednesday, accused of stealing air conditioners from a vacant condominium complex in Clearwater, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies responded to a call of several men loitering near the vacant condos at 1832 and 1836 Villa Drive about 4:10 a.m. Wednesday.
Deputies say that when they arrived at the complex, they saw four air conditioners loaded onto a truck and trailer and a man carrying a unit between the buildings. He ran away, along with another man.
Two more men were seen climbing a fence, and all four were tracked by sheriff's office canine units and caught at the complex, deputies said.
Arrested were John Burgess, 23, of 1450 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Clearwater; Edward Mitchell, 30, of 1100 Donegan Road, Largo; and Michael White, 36, and Gary Wolchesky, 38, both of 15500 59th St., Clearwater.
Each was charged with six counts of burglary, six count of criminal mischief, six counts of grand theft and one count of loitering and prowling.
