TAMPA - A man who accused his neighbor of causing a woman's arrest wound up begging the same neighbor not to have him arrested for burglary, police said.
The odd chain of events began about 9:43 p.m. Wednesday in an apartment building at 7211 N. 10th St., where Tampa police said Narada Randall confronted neighbor Stanley Mullen about the arrest of Randall's girlfriend.
Randall, 27, kicked in Mullen's door and accused Mullen, 45, of calling the police earlier in the evening on another matter, leading to the girlfriend's arrest, police said.
Randall took Mullen's cell phone to look at the log of calls to confirm whether Mullen had called police, a preliminary report states. Randall then threw the cell phone at Mullen, striking Mullen in the chest, and left, the report states.
Mullen, concerned that Randall would return and harm his cat, scooped up the cat and took it to a friend's house, the report states.
Upon his return, Mullen discovered that his DVD player and some DVDs were stolen, the report states.
Randall returned the items a short time later and then unsuccessfully pleaded with Mullen not to call the police, the report states.
Randall was held without bail at the Orient Road Jail today. He is charged with felony burglary and felony grand theft.
