TAMPA - A pet store in Lutz has one bird less after a parrot valued at about $1,400 was reported stolen about noon Wednesday.
The 7-month-old black cap caique was taken from Petland, 17657 N. Dale Mabry Highway, according the store's owner.
The bird is described as a green, yellow and orange parrot with a black cap. It has special feeding requirements.
Store owner Lee Harrison said the parrot was priced at $1,399.
The bird, along with the other animals at the store, are registered with helpmefindmypet.com, a Web site designed to help pet owners locate and recover lost pets.
Harrison said this is the first animal stolen from the store, which has been open since June 7.
If anyone has information on the stolen parrot, they are asked to go to the Web site or call 1-866-699-3463.
