PLANT CITY - Police arrested a man on a manslaughter charge early this morning in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl Saturday night.
Brooke McDonald was fatally shot about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after a partygoer at an apartment thought a large-caliber revolver was not loaded and pointed the gun at her, Plant City Police Sgt. Jim Shultz said.
Thomas Grieco, 20, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Grieco lives in the apartment at 115 J. Arden Mays Blvd. where the fatal shooting occurred, police said.
Another man, Jon Hosmer, 21, of Plant City, was charged with tampering with evidence, Shultz said.
According to an arrest affidavit, Grieco pointed a .44-caliber revolver at McDonald and pulled the trigger. He believed the gun was not loaded, the report said.
The gun fired, hitting the teen in the head, police said.
People were attending a party at the apartment, Shultz said.
Grieco is being held without bond at the Orient Road Jail. Hosmer is being held on $4,000 bail.
