Sarasota - A motorcycle driver was killed when he ran through a red light and collided with an SUV on University Parkway, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Philip R. Bornstein, 62, of Sarasota, was driving his motorcycle east on University Parkway approaching the intersection of North Cattleman Road at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, the highway patrol said.
A Land Rover, driven by Harvey P. Whitney, 63, of Lakewood Ranch, was heading west on the parkway, and making a left turn onto North Cattleman. Whitney proceeded through on the green turning arrow when Bornstein came through the red light and was struck by the front corner of the SUV, the highway patrol said.
Harvey and Sandra Whitney, 57, were each treated for minor injuries at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, troopers reported.
No charges were filed in the crash. The investigation was continuing.
